A popular food in Brazil – meat, veggies and traditional cakes

Brazil is famous for its cuisine all over the world and there is no doubt, that the basic ingredients in traditional Brazilian food are meat. But it’s not impossible to eat amazing vegetarian Brazilian dishes either and most importantly, traditional Brazilian cakes and popular desserts are the biggest mindblowers there. Look at the variety of food you can find in Brazil, and find a recipe for easy Brazilian desserts in this article.

Popular Brazilian desserts

I will start with what lies the closest to my heart – sweets. No doubt I gained back all the weight I lost after 2 months in Bolivia. Brazil is full of treats that will skyrocket your sugar level up to the skies. The most famous and traditional Brazilian cakes definitely are Pudim de Leite condenzado (pudding from condensed milk), but to my favourite belong brigadeiro and tapioca pudding.

Brazilian fruits and vegetables

Brazil is a paradise for fruit and veggie lover as I am and I could easily compensate for the lack of Brazilian vegetarian dishes in restaurants by buying fresh fruits and veggies in the market. Very fast our typical Brazilian breakfast consisted of various fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice.

Though fish is a usual meal at the seaside, we actually enjoyed it the most after our arrival to Bonito, a small natural paradise close to the Bolivian and Paraguayan border.

Bufet & por kilo

Buffet and por kilo restaurants were our lifesavers in Brazil. Not only they are usually the cheapest eating options, but in many small cities, it was the only way for me how to get a good vegetarian meal.
