Trip to Iguazu falls in pictures and some interesting facts

Visiting Iguazu falls was definitely one of the highlights of our road trip in Brazil. The second biggest waterfall system in the world, one of the 7 nature wonders, attracts thousands of tourists every day. Look at my best images of Iguazu waterfalls to understand, why is everybody so crazy about them.

The first question when I was planning the trip to Iguazu falls was, whether we will visit from Brazil or Argentina. I studied online articles and images of Iguazu falls and eventually decided, that the Brazilian side of Iguazu falls will be enough for us. Some people swear that visiting both sides is a must, I thought that 3 days of looking at waterfalls would be too much (we planned a visit to Salto de Monday in Paraguay the next days).

To get to the Brazilian side of Iguazu falls is no science, there are frequent (and cheap) buses running from the city center, which will leave you right in front of the ticket office. Then you can take a few km walk or another bus to takes you to the waterfalls.

As soon as I saw the falls, there was no wonder, why they were voted one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. The photos might be beautiful, but they don’t even start captivating the enormous size and beauty of the falls. And if I say they are huge, I mean it, no exaggeration. There is a short 1,5 km trail alongside the falls, which took us 3 hours to complete! Argentina might have 2/3 of the Iguazu falls, but Brazil side gets the best views. So enough chatting, let’s just look at the pictures.

What’s the best time to visit Iguazu falls

Though many people swear, that the best time to visit Iguazu falls is in the spring and fall, because summer is very hot and humid, and in winter the water level is considerably lower. We visited in the winter (July, August) and I honestly think it's a great time for visiting Iguazu falls. It's the dry season, so you will have more luck on a clear sky, the temperature is bearable and though the water flow might be lower, it doesn't mean the falls are dry. What it means is, that you are less likely to get completely wet when you walk among them and there will be also fewer people. Win-win situation in my opinion.

Look at my vide from Iguazu falls to get better idea of how big they are:

How many days to spend at Iguazu falls

If you wonder how many days to spend at Iguazu falls, and you only go to the Brazil side of the Iguazu falls, one day is enough and it's better to plan the visit in the afternoon. When the sun is higher, you will definitely see a rainbow. If you also want to go to the Argentinian side of the falls, plan a two-day visit.
