Salt flat in Bolivia that turns into a mirror just before dusk is definitely the star attraction for all backpackers in Bolivia, and this first place is well deserved. A chance to enjoy the beauty of Salar de Uyuni sunset and sunrise in a place often called the border between heaven and earth is something, everybody should get at least once in a lifetime. Enjoy my Salar de Uyuni pictures and start dreaming about your own adventure here...
Tarija belongs to one of the less visited cities in Bolivia. It is a shame considering it is the best place where to unwind after all the other demanding tourist activities in Bolivia. Here you can easily sit down and relax while enjoying good wine, good food, and very pleasant climate. Check out the three main reasons, why everybody traveling in Bolivia should visit the lovely city of Tarija.
Many people spend time in Sucre learning Spanish, but being adventurers in heart and with such beautiful weather, sitting indoor was not exactly our idea of having a great time. Therefore, we rather searched for outdoor things to do in Sucre, the Bolivian capital city.
Huayna Potosi is one of the white peaks surrounding La Paz and claimed to be an easy to climb 6000 m peak. In La Paz, there are many agencies offering climbing tours to Bolivian snow peaks, including one day course of ice climbing. As we wanted to climb this high since we came to South America, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to watch a sunrise from 6000m.
El Choro is one of the most popular Bolivian hiking trails. It starts at La Cumbre pass, at the altitude of 4600 m and slowly drops through the Bolivian forest into a lovely city of Coroico at 1750 m. While many people get to enjoy this lovely trek, watching the nature changing from high mountains to green jungle, we were not so lucky and our hike went completely different than we have expected.
I wasn't very excited by visiting the city of La Paz, but I immediately fell in love with it. You won’t find here much of a beautiful colonial architecture as in other cities, but maybe that’s what makes it special and a bit different. Another thing is its fascinating public transportation – which runs in the air!
Copacabana is a nice little town on the shores of Titicaca lake, popular among pilgrims and one-day visitors of Isla del Sol. My most favorite activity during our week here was taking pictures of the sunset - every day from a different spot - check out which are the best spots for sunset pictures in Copacabana
